Bronze Birds by Sculptress Joel Joins Prestigious Sculpture Exhibition Raising Funds for Cancer Charity

Some of our favourite British birds celebrated in bronze have been chosen for this special sculpture exhibition in the grounds of the beautiful gardens of Wyken Hall, Wyken Vineyards in Suffolk. The house and gardens form attractive settings for the sculptures and installations.

The Kingfisher (Alcedo Atthis) in flight is set on a sandstone birdbath, with slate plinth near the house.

While nearby the Jenny Wren is posed on a mossy rock in the shade of the flint stone wall and old rose with its own moss growth.

A top favourite is this Wren species (Troglodytes troglodytes). And Wren on a Rock Celebration 2026 is a special sculpture in more ways. Since this particular Devonian rock came from a vineyard at Sandridge Barton Wines near Stoke Gabriel.

“I love the extra dimensions of time and story when a piece of moss covered rock from a vineyard in Devon becomes the home of a Wren set in the gardens of a Suffolk vineyard”.

Messengers of Time and Migration

A House Martin ( Delichon urbicum) forms the gnomon on a contemporary design of a classic form of the sundial; All in cast bronze and the base having reminiscence of the nodes of Bamboo.

Flight of Swallows across the Sun

This Bamboo style of base has been given extra height for the Sun Swallow landscape installation nearby. The gold plated bronze ‘sun’ disc changes in different light and the messengers of time remind us of the amazing journeys these birds make each year to nest in or on our buildings and rear their young.

Single Swift Flight

The Swift (Apus apus) is another of our much loved summer visitors. They have an even shorter time with us than the Swallows and Martins and are recognisable by their long sickle shaped wings and distinctive calls.

Joel likes to take opportunities at these events to champion the cause of Swift conservation and the protection of other species .
