Portrait of a Unique and Special Dog Friend

Precious Dog Companion Commission

Each year a small number of commissions can be taken for portraits of special people and animals. 

Recently Joel was asked to celebrate the life of  ‘a dog in a million‘ – a special character who survived difficulties as a puppy due to the loving care of her owner and became a very special canine companion.

The statue of Precious will be cast in bronze as a tribute to them.

From sculpture armature to build up of clay by Joel

The project needed Joel to become familiar with a different breed and particular individual. The slow process moves from the making of the armature through the build up of body and muscles, to changes and adjustments in response to client’s feedback –  to the final details of face and all the features of the coat.
