The Startling Bird – Ever Light is Held

The Kingfisher is one of the most brightly coloured European birds to be glimpsed as they fly along rivers and streams.

Inspired by Kingfishers that she calls The Startling Bird, Sculptress JOEL has combined the richly coloured Bronze Kingfisher with the cool grey stone of a Bird bath.

JOEL took several years to research and complete the sculpture of the Kingfisher in flight and is developing techniques to add different colours to the birds and gleams of glass to the bases.

The words from a poem by the artist have been engraved into the stone edge of the bird bath

Don’t you just love the effects of sculpture, light, water, sky and shadows

Bird Baths provide an important source of water for our bird friends especially in summer and winter. They make a great design accent for gardens,  but there are many alternative water features and ponds which make settings for the bronze Kingfisher sculptures.

The Kingfisher sculptures have also been made in unique combinations as pairs for the bird baths… there is even a trio for a larger statement piece.

These make good presents for that occasion – birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement…
